Sharing Closets

Sep 3, 2017

I've been a little MIA on the blog lately because I've been busy with work, moving and renovating our new place. As I'm writing this I'm in a rush to get off the computer so I can finish packing. Wish me luck, xo

P.S. I honestly can't remember what I was looking at

I'm hooked

Aug 7, 2017

I know Fashion Nova is very popular right now but I had never shopped with them before until I saw this crop top, now I'm hooked on Fashion Nova like everyone else lol. I was happy to see that the quality wasn't terrible, they're ridiculously affordable so I wasn't sure if I was going to get something totally different in the mail.

BTW how uncomfortable are these shoes?! I know it's important for everyone to have at least one pair in their closet since it does go with everything but god damn they are not comfortable at all.

Dinner & Drinks

Jul 30, 2017

A few months ago I was working at Rag & Bone, in March I had planned to leave because management was the absolute worst, BUT this beautiful blazer came in and it was love at first sight.  So I thought I'll stick around for Spring "trade" (allowance for Rag & Bone clothes) get it with this blazer and then dip. Spring trade came around and I put in the request for this blazer and it so happened to be the most expensive blazer there so it would probably take up most of my trade. The shitty manager we had agreed because she thought I was going to wear it and she knew it would sell if I wore it but little did she know I was spending my trade and putting my two weeks in. I figured I deserved it since I had to deal with so much BS while working there so I'm like you know what?  This can be Rag & Bones farewell gift to me. About a week after I spent my trade I put my two weeks in. So basically I got a free $650 blazer without having to wear it to work in shoes that wouldn't go well with them (shoe selection in our store kinda sucked, and obviously couldn't wear Gucci shoes). AND I also added in free camel suede Chelsea boots that were $450.

Moral of the story treat your employees well so they don't start scheming.

Thank you to the managers at Rag & Bone King of Prussia for the farewell gifts xo

p.s. everyone has to go to Sampan, the food and drinks were amazing.

All Summer

Jul 20, 2017

Forever 21 dress (similar here) | My favorite sneakers here

This is kinda my uniform especially in Spring/Summer, a ribbed dress and comfortable sneakers are my favorite thing to wear. Like I've said in the past I prefer a sneaker over heels and I make it my business to buy dresses that look good with sneakers just so I don't have to wear heels. The Gazelles are seriously the most comfortable sneaker I have ever worn. I plan on buying them in a few more colors.

Btw my skin looks like this because of coconut oil I didn't do any weird editing, it's a habit of mine to wear a generous amount of coconut because I like to look super glossy.

10 Things People In Luxury Retail Know To Be True

Jul 17, 2017

If you work in luxury retail whether it's a boutique or a department store you can somehow relate to this....

  1. You were probably relieved when you noticed that some of your co-workers were 45 and over because that means less cattiness right? WRONG you will learn very soon that they are the pettiest people in your store
  2. Your co-workers feel a sense of entitlement all because they have clients with money....the gag is, it's their money, not yours take it down a few notches boo boo
  3. If you weren't a people person before then it's about to get worst.
  4. Witnessed multiple meltdowns
  5. At least once someone in HR has tried to belittle you/and or embarrass you but since it's a union job you ripped them a new asshole and got back to work *twirls*
  6. You make H&M look like all the other expensive shit they sell in there, so you often get customers asking "oh my god who are you wearing?!"
  7. You get a customer who is on a tight budget, so you spend a half hour trying to find "affordable pieces" while someone next to you just sold a Fendi fur.....G I R L! (a lot of us somehow ditched the customer cause lets be real as a sales person time is money!!!!)
  8. You see the girls come in with their old ass sugar daddies (I loved seeing that)
  9. When someone would swear they didn't wear something but when you look in the garment her dirty draws in there
  10. You came out with connections and opportunities OR you came out with nothing but you learned a lot about people.

This list could on but we'll keep it at 10

Had A Few

Jul 12, 2017

Excuse the red eye in the first picture I used a few different photo editing apps to fix it but it either didn't fix it at all or told me there was no face in the picture LOL.

Last Sunday I went to a friends baby shower and we had so much fun ! I was busy earlier in the day so I didn't have time to take pictures in daylight which I was not happy about at all. As you may have noticed most fashion bloggers don't shoot at night for a reason ! But I'm trying to make sure I stay consistent and wasn't going to let that stop me. I took these after the baby shower and by then I was feeling tipsy off a blue drink that had alcohol in it but without the taste (so dangerous and GOOD).

The 2nd picture sums up how I was feeling.

Benefits Of Drinking Coconut Water

Jul 10, 2017

Drinking coconut water has a ton of benefits but I'll just mention a few...

-Balances blood sugar-
-Improves blood circulation-
-Burn fat faster-
-Helps dissolve kidney stones-
-Increases heart health-
-VERY hydrating-
-Supplies energy-
-Cures bad hangovers-
-Great for your skin-

If you're someone who doesn't like the taste of coconut water it's totally fine, the very first time I had coconut water I didn't like the taste at all but then I got used to it and now I'm obsessed with it, it's all I drink ! If you still haven't grown to love it here are some ways you can add it to your diet.

Cold brew here
Chia seed water here
Popsicles here
This interesting/super healthy drink here

Also I like adding it into my juices/smoothies instead of almond milk or water (coconut milk is great for smoothies too). Make sure you're buying organic coconut water. Certain companies will add sugar so pay attention to those ingredients ! I buy mine at Trader Joe's and if I go to a regular supermarket I buy either ZICO or Vita Coco. I've never tried the recipes above so watch out for my Snapchat/Instagram story I'm going to be trying them out !

Oh oh !!! I JUST found out that Trader Joe's just made coconut water cold brew but it's only available during the summer ! (screaming)

What I'm Currently Using

Jul 7, 2017

What I'm Currently Using

  1. The Wet Brush is my new favorite brush in the past I told you guys about the Michel Mercier Brush which is great too. The Wet Brush is designed for wet hair, it helps detangle with little to no pain and works for all hair types. They also have have a brush on their site called the Shower Flex which can be used in the shower and helps brush through your hair smoothly while conditioner is still in it. I use this brush whether my hair is wet or dry.
  2. Hask Argan Oil Collection is the bomb, I've used everything except for the oil. I only shampoo once a week. I wash my hair twice a week. I only shampoo my scalp, but every now and then I do shampoo my whole head just so I can make sure there's no build up. The Conditioner I leave on for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3.  After I rinse out my conditioner I either reach for Doo Gro Thickening Treatment or Carols Daughter Almond Milk Hair Masque. I know I have a ton of hair but you could never have too much hair. The Doo Gro Treatment helps rebuild your hair with the help of aloe vera, protein, and shea oil. I like using the Carols Daughter masque when my hair has been straitened and I'm ready to go back to my curls. This masque nourishes and protects against damage so if you're a curly girl that still likes to use heat you're going to want to add these treatments to your collection.
  4. Mixed Chicks Leave In Conditioner  I love how light this leave in is, I usually apply a quarter size only because I have a ton of hair and my hair is pretty long. I apply from ends to roots and massage my scalp.
  5. I purchase my coconut oil at Trader Joes since I already do all my grocery shopping there. Make sure you buy ORGANIC coconut oil. I use this for everything ! Shaving, moisturizing, and when I use it on my hair I sometimes use it as a treatment or Ill just apply it to my ends and a little bit to the rest of my hair after I use my leave in conditioner.
  6. Next I reach for either one of the three styling products, Aunt Jackies Curl la la , Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie , Deva Curl Frizz-Free Volumizing Foam , I love them all ! Especially the Deva Curl Foam. Its so volumizing but you want to make sure you don't use to much and you distribute the product all over because this will make your hair hard if not applied correctly.
  7. This is my favorite step, when you look at the  Doo Gro Mega Thick Hair Vitalizer it looks thick and greasy. It looks a lot like blue vaseline BUT I've been using this for awhile and I love the way this stuff makes my hair feel and how well it works. I take about a nickel size amount on my hand and warm it up in my hands. I massage this all over my scalp and whatever is left on my hands I apply to my ends and then to the rest of my hair. I only do this after I dry my hair with my blow dryer (I don't diffuse my hair I find it time consuming and annoying). Every now and then I'll let my hair air dry but I rarely do it because I don't have the patience to wait two hours for my whole head to be dry. Oh ! and it's paraben free which we love.

Wear Less Black

Jul 5, 2017

I'm trying realllllly hard to step out of my comfort zone. For years I would stick to olive green, navy blues, grey, white and black. Can't even get into nude, I hate the color on me. So I'm trying to wear a little more color but as you can see I failed once again.

Do Lash Extensions Damage Natural Lashes ?

Jul 3, 2017

Uhhhh yes and no. I was nervous to try them out in the past because I was worried about damage, and I just couldn't understand how glue sitting on your lashes for a long period of time could do them ANY good. I did my research for like a week and I kept reading articles that claimed that eyelash extensions were totally safe and that there should be no damage if done properly. I went to Lash Bash here in Philly late March and decided to try them out. After the first appointment I was hooked, I always had long natural lashes but since I suffer from seasonal allergies my mascara was constantly smudging throughout the day so I thought this would be prefect for me ! I had their "Vixen" lashes which was about 140 lashes extensions glued on each eye. You pick your curl and shape, the lash tech decides on lengths. The first appointment cost $250 and refills were between $65-$115 depending how long you wait. I made sure I made the extensions last four weeks because I just couldn't imagine myself paying for a refill every two weeks when I already get monthly waxes, gel manicures and pedicures every other week.

What I did to take care of them & to make them last longer

Lash Extension care

Add lukewarm water in a cup with a little bit of tearless baby shampoo, mix it with a mascara wand and brush through your lashes. Rinse and use tissue/paper towel to gently dab the lashes to remove water. Brush out the lashes with a clean mascara wand, this is important because wet lashes tend to stick together. Then apply the sealer, this adds shine to the lashes and helps seal the glue so it can last longer. Lashes have to be brushed and cleaned everyday, the sealer I used three times a week. It's not necessary to use it everyday. Using mascara, itching your eyes, playing with the lashes are all things you shouldn't be doing.

No longer needed mascara so that meant no smudging or fall out

Makeup routine was cut in half

Looked like a Disney princess

High maintenance

Couldn't itch eyes AT ALL

Gets expensive (especially if you already do all the extra shit I like to do for myself)

I had to be so careful with washing my face to the point it got extremely annoying, cotton pads couldn't get anywhere near the lashes. I just felt like washing my face took too long.

Recently I removed the lash extensions, I wanted to see if there was any damage. After two months of having lash extensions there wasn't necessarily any damage but I noticed that my eyelashes were definitely shorter. I was a bit disappointed especially since I did a lot of research before getting extensions, but I realized that lash extensions is such a big business that there's no way in hell anyone is going to flat out say "hey this shit will damage your lashes" that's all a girl needs to hear for her to not even think about getting lash extensions.  There's a lot of things we do that isn't toxic but definitely isn't something we should be constantly doing. So do I still recommend them ? Yes ! But I don't think they are meant to be worn all the time. They should only be used for special events, vacations etc. I wouldn't recommend wearing them all the time. You could wear a lash serum with the extensions on but I'm not sure how effective that is.

Since I removed them Ive been applying castor oil on my eyelashes every night and I do feel like its made a difference. In my May Ipsy Glam Bag they sent me Mascara from Grande Cosmetics and it has been a life saver. The company is known for having amazing lash serums that are supposed to give you dramatic results in just three weeks. They also offer hair growth products for your brows and your hair which I am definitely going to be trying cause you can NEVER have too much hair. The mascara gives you length, volume, and conditions the lashes with their peptide infused formula that is also found in their lash serum. It's also water resistant but is very easy to remove (I use micellar water to remove it). No smudging or fall out. For now I'm just going to work on growing insanely long lashes so I won't start missing those long Lucious extensions. I'll update you more on lash growth and if anything changed.

Sneakers > Heels

Jun 26, 2017

I haven't blogged in so long I forgot how annoying it is to get the perfect pictures at night.

I love the look of heels but HATE wearing them. I have been lucky enough to find comfortable heels, but still prefer a sneaker.
